Each column contains 8 images from herbarium specimens of the Trans-Pecos and New Mexico which have been determined at regional herbaria (i.e., SRSC, UNM, NMC). [Identification of plants with a pubescent upper leaf surface seems to reflect whether or not the key of Martin & Hutchins 1981 was used.]

• Left column: E. discolor(all except J.O. Larke 483 with pubescent upper surface)
  
• Center column: E. discolor (all determined as E. nuttallianus)
  
• Right column: E. nuttallianus
