Drosera brevifolia Specimen Sheet
Entire Sheet (i.e., Both Sides) Enclosed in Plastic Sheath

Drosera brevifolia herbarium sheet. Clicking within the red areas will present a full size (and unmodified in PhotoShop) 600 dpi scan of that portion. [To view the current presentation of the specimen on the Lincecum Virtual Herbarium.]

Inner view of the opened sheet on the left (all in plastic). To the right of the fold, note (1) the imprint of the pressed specimens; (2) the text showing through from the outside; and (3) the right edge shows the gray edge of the sheath next to the white sheet it was positioned on, most clearly visible when the scale selection is enlarged (clicked).

Outer view of the unfolded sheet on the right. Note the imprint of the pressed specimens through the paper on both sides of the sheet (in the red boxes).

The scale (contrasty black and white) on the bottom right has been added during the scanning and the paper was placed on a white sheet. White in the originals, however, is not white in the scanned image. Viewing the full sized detail by clicking on the scale area in red gives some indication of lighting effects produced by the scanner. Although most specimen scans exhibit some reflection from the plastic sheath, this one does not.
