A number of specimens were attached to the mounting paper with netting. The presence of the netting seems to have affected the ever-present side-effect color cast of the scans, making it more difficult to remove the background color without affecting the details of the specimen itself.

A measuring scale (contrasty black and white) and a color scale were placed on top of the specimen sheet during the scanning.
