Guajillo is common along with black brush in South Texas, and ranges into the southern Edwards Plateau and Trans-Pecos. It is well known for the honey produced from its flowers, which it produces in the spring and early summer. This is one of many medium-sized thorny shrubs of Texas--although the thorns are not obvious until you grab it!
