The distinct feature of the flower of the angel trumpet is the very long narrow tube, 6 inches or more in length. It flowers in summer or fall in response to rain, the blooms opening near dusk and staying open through the night. It occurs in open dry habitats, including roadsides, in western and southern Texas.
