Yerba Mansa

Anemopsis californica

Saururaceae White

As in the sunflower family, to which this is not related, the “flower” of the yerba mansa is composed of a large number of tiny flowers that, taken together, look like a single bloom. This rather odd and uncommon plant forms colonies in wet saline spots in extremely scattered localities in northern and western Texas and blooms from late spring through mid-summer.
