White Prickly Poppy

White Prickly Poppy

Argemone albiflora

Papaveraceae White

The white prickly poppy is common, mostly in the eastern half of Texas, in open areas, overgrazed fields, and weedy areas, and can sometimes form large solid stands. The pretty floppy white flowers, which can be present in the spring to early fall, belie the prickly nature of most of the rest of the plant.
