Green Wild Indigo

Baptisia sphaerocarpa

Fabaceae Orange Yellow

This species of wild indigo grows in open areas and woodland edges in eastern Texas, where it blooms in the spring. The name “wild indigo” refers to the fact that some related species have been used to make a blue dye that is, however, a poor substitute for the real indigo (which is also derived from a plant).
