Texas Virgin’s Bower
Clematis drummondii
Ranunculaceae
White
This weedy but beautiful vine grows over thickets and on fences in most parts of Texas, being especially common in the dry central, western, and southern parts of the state. It flowers in the summer. The fruits are showier than the flowers, the long white or silvery mature styles forming the hairy looking mass that gives it the name “old man’s beard”.
