Hierba de Pollo

Commelinaceae Blue Purple

Widespread in the state, this wildflower is common in grasslands and along woodland margins, flowering from late spring through fall. The flowers are very short-lived, lasting only a few hours of one morning, and vary from deep sky-blue to purplish-blue. It is much eaten by wildlife.
