Anacahuite, Wild Olive

Cordia boissieri

Boraginaceae White Yellow

The anacahuite is a shrub or small tree of extreme South Texas that you can’t miss at highway speeds when it’s in flower. It can bloom at any time of year, depending on the rains, and produces large and showy white flowers. It is quite common in the brushlands of the area. Anacahuite is popular in cultivation beyond its native range, although it will freeze back to the ground in the winter in places like San Antonio.
