Purple Coneflower

Echinacea angustifolia

Asteraceae Brown Pink Purple White

This showy perennial is found mostly in prairies of the Panhandle and in north-central Texas, but it is also common in gardens. Echinacea has been used for decades as an herbal remedy for various ailments. In some parts of the country, harvesting of roots from wild plants has driven echinacea to the brink of local extinction.
