Railroad Vine

Ipomoea pes-caprae

Convolvulaceae Pink Purple

Texas is blessed with over twenty species of native morning glories. These vines have attractive foliage and large, often brightly colored flowers that open early in the morning (hence the common name). The goat-foot morning glory, named for the form of the leaf, is a species of dunes all along the Gulf coast of Texas. It is ecologically important for its role in stabilizing the dunes.
