Texas Yellow Star

The Texas star is a small but distinctive spring bloomer found in brushy pastures, on rocky open slopes, and on roadsides on clay soils throughout central and north Texas. It is a preferred browse plants for many wildlife and livestock species. The genus name, Lindheimera, honors the “Father of Texas Botany”, Ferdinand Lindheimer (1801-1879), a German immigrant who settled in New Braunfels in 1844.
