Texas Skeletonplant

Lygodesmia texana

Asteraceae Pink Purple

Leaves are scarce on skeletonplant; much of its photosynthesis is accomplished by the green stems, which resemble nondescript green twigs. Skeletonplant can thus be hard to locate except in the late morning and early afternoon, when its large pink flowers are open. It blooms much of the year.
