Scarlet Musk-flower

Nyctaginia capitata

Nyctaginaceae Pink Red

This plant, which flowers almost any time during the year in response to rain, is beautiful from a distance, but close-up you’ll find that the flowers have a disagreeable odor, and the stems and leaves are covered with sticky glands. It is found in dry landscapes, mostly in southern and western Texas.
