Prairie Parsley

Polytaenia nuttallii

Apiaceae Yellow

The prairie parsley is very characteristic of loamy prairies of the eastern and central parts of Texas. It is a large plant, to about three feet tall, and it tends to be common and hard to miss when in flower. Unlike many common names, in this case it is accurate: this is indeed a member of the parsley (and carrot) family. Many members of that family are avoided by cattle, but they like to eat this one just fine!
