Half Flower

Scaevola plumieri

Goodeniaceae Pink White

This odd-flowered, fleshy shrub is so rare in Texas that most botanists have never seen it here. At one time there was a fairly large but very local patch on a barrier island of the Gulf, but Hurricane Carla in 1961 obliterated it, and now it is extremely rare. It is more common on beaches elsewhere in tropical America, luckily!
