Silky Camellia

Stewartia malacodendron

Theaceae White

If you find this shrub in the wild in Texas, you are extremely lucky, because it is very rare in deep East Texas (although it is more common further east in the southeastern U.S.) This spring bloomer is the only native species of the tea family in Texas and is related to the cultivated camellia.
