Clasping Venus’-lookingglass

Triodanis perfoliata

Campanulaceae Blue Purple

There are seven species of Venus’-lookingglass in Texas, easily overlooked but exquisitely beautiful small erect annuals of grasslands and woodland openings. This species is the most common, being ubiquitous in disturbed sandy areas, mostly in the eastern half of the state but also in scattered areas westward. The spring to early summer flowers vary from lavender-blue to a more violet hue.
