Verbena xutha

Verbenaceae Blue Purple

Vervains or verbenas occur in every part of Texas, represented by about thirty species that range from nondescript to quite showy. The Gulf vervain is common in the eastern third of the state in prairies, roadsides, and open sandy areas. In summer, it is often conspicuous in flower in blackland prairies. The flowers, which can also appear at other times of the year, vary from lavender-pink to lavender-blue.
