Dr. Clark Hubbs' & TNHC Fish Collection

Nearly 6,000 lots of fishes collected by Dr. Hubbs between 1945 and 1961 comprise almost 25% of the entire cataloged fish collection of the Texas Natural History Collection, a division of the Texas Memorial Museum. His collecting peaked in 1953 (1,344 lots), but there was also a contribution of 844 lots collected in 1986, and approximately 2,000 lots collected by Hubbs remain uncataloged to date (mostly Gambusia from Clear Creek). Cataloging of these remaining lots is in progress.

Dr. Hubbs' field notes have also been a valuable contribution to the collection. A complete set of his notes from 1949 to 1964 is currently archived here and is frequently consulted by researchers.
