Evolvulus arenarius Harms is endemic to the High Plains sands of the Texas/New Mexico border region from Winkler Co., Texas, and Eddy Co., New Mexico, in the south to Hartley Co., Texas, and Curry Co., New Mexico, in the north. In some of these areas the new species is sympatric with the closely related E. nuttallianus. Some 15 collections of E. arenarius exist in Texas and New Mexico herbaria, where it has been identified as either E. sericeus or E. nuttallianus. [Download publication of the new name. 3.9 MB]
